Cigar Maven - All
about Cigars.
When you think of cigars you may think of the rich and powerful or
maybe you think of smoking one and relaxing outside or in a cigar
bar. Either way cigars are smoked regularly by both men and women
all over the world. There is an entire culture based off of cigar
smoking. There is an art to it and there are even theories and
debates over the best ways to enjoy a good cigar. Similar to wine
or cheese tasting, cigar smoking has become a very popular past
time for people rich or poor.
Currently it is believed that cigars were first made and created
in Spain and then later they became all the rage of the elite in
the European countries. There are many countries that produce and
manufacture cigars. However, Cuban cigars have always been
considered one of the best, but also hardest to get. Depending on
the country you live in, you are not legally allowed to have Cuban
cigars. Regardless though, Cubans are considered one of the best
because of the regional micro-climates that the tobacco is
produced in. Along with the skill of the cigar makers in Cuba.
Along with Cuba there are other countries that make cigars, they
are Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, Cameroon, Dominican
Republic, Indonesia, and the United States.
Why cigars are so popular there are many reasons we could
speculate on. One reason may be because of the way it is
manufactured. The higher end, better cigars are always hand
wrapped. Also, unlike cigarettes, there is a very lengthy process
that cigars go through of fermentation and aging of the tobacco.
Similar to the aging process of wine, this aging in cigars creates
bolder flavors and textures. The longer the cigar sits and the
more fermenting that takes place, the better taste of the cigar.
Furthermore, cigars are very individualized regarding taste. There
are so many different sizes and flavors of cigars to fit many
people’s different tastes and preferences. Some of the best also
provide no smokey after taste at all.
Conversely, cigars have a much bolder and strong taste compared to
cigars. Most cigars are made by wrapping three different layers of
tobacco leaves together. The higher the quality of the cigar the
longer the leaves of nicotine that are used as the filler.
However, some do still contain a combination of scraps as the
filler. This combination that is created gives results of varying
textures and flavors. Unlike cigarettes that are mass produced,
contain only one type of tobacco, and are machine rolled. Cigars
have many flavors to choose from and how strong of a taste you are
looking for. Such as chocolate, vanilla, apple, and even coffee.
Of course, the major down fall of smoking anything is the health
risk it then imposes. This is the same for cigars. There is still
nicotine in all cigars and smoking one cigar is comparable to
smoking ten cigarettes. The belief that because a cigar smoker
does not inhale there is less risk or no risk at all is false.
Smoking cigars still impose the same risks as smoking cigarettes
or pipes or anything else. Being aware of this while smoking them,
at least then you may not smoke as many.
Cigar smoking is a popular and relaxing past time for people all
over the world. Trying the different brands and flavors will give
you an idea of which kind you like best and your favorite go to
cigars.
